WEDM Operator III Summary
Set-up and operates one or more EDM electrical discharge machines by applying knowledge of machine processes and methods for the production of metal parts. Assists in programming jobs.
Training and Experience Requirements
7 years minimum work experience, trade school, vocational education, or 4 year apprenticeship required with 3 years work experience.
Specific Job Functions
Complete assigned tasks without supervision in a timely manner.
Knowledge of machine capacities in order to make accurate production process decisions.
Able to give tooling and fixture design specifications and/or start hole locations to other departments or outside vendor for manufacture
Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
Compares plot sheet or computer printout with original program sheet and blueprint to assure accuracy of machine instructions.
Performs (2nd eye) verification of set-up for other operators.
Fulfills the role of “mentor” and “trainer” sharing knowledge of WEDM techniques as related to set ups and machining practices.
