CNC Machinist I Summary

Set-up and operates CNC machines by applying knowledge of machine processes and methods for the production of various types of metal parts. In all actions support MTI's Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other MTI policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

Training and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years work experience, trade school, vocational education, or apprenticeship required.

Specific Job Functions

  • Encompasses proficiency of CNC Machinist Trainee job position functions, plus:

  • Good comprehension of blueprints, sketches, drawing specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.

  • Attaches basic fixture to machine table or workstation and secures work piece in fixture according to set-up instructions with little or no assistance; using clamps, hardware and measuring instruments.

  • Able to adjust machine settings and to set tool length offsets and work offsets; uses other offsets as required according to information on set up sheets.

  • Able to maintain machinery through required maintenance schedules.
