General Machinist I Summary
Set-up and operates various types of machines by applying knowledge of machine processes and methods for the production of various types of material.
Training and Experience Requirements
Minimum 2 years work experience, trade school, vocational education, or apprenticeship required.
Specific Job Functions
Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision in a timely manner.
Good comprehension of blueprints, sketches, drawing specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.
Attaches basic fixture to machine table or workstation and secures work piece in fixture according to set-up instructions with little or no assistance; using clamps, hardware and measuring instruments.
Able to adjust machine settings. Sets tool length offsets and work offsets, uses other offsets as required according to information on set up sheets (all with minimal supervision).
Able to maintain machinery through required maintenance schedules.
